Scope of our work

We are responsible for producing and regularly updating reviews of interventions for the prevention and treatment of wounds and their complications.

The Wounds Group works most closely with the Anaesthesia, Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Injuries, Metabolic and Endocrine Disorders, Peripheral Vascular Disease and Skin Groups. The Peripheral Vascular Disease Group conducts reviews in arterial and venous disease in which wound healing or incidence is not a primary outcome measure. The Cochrane Injuries Group conducts reviews on the prevention of burns and the care of the burned patient. The Metabolic and Endocrine Disorders Group is concerned with evidence about the prevention and treatment of diabetes overall whilst the Wounds Group is concerned with diabetic ulcers only. Where there is overlap review groups employ a well-established process of discussion and arbitration.
